Marseille has one of the largest Jewish communities in France after Paris. The Great Synagogue on Rue Breteuil dates from 1864. Restaurants are under the Marseille Beth Din (Consistoire), not Paris. Near the Opera, Au Falafel is where most visitors eat; there is a second branch on the Prado. For Shabbat on foot, sleep in the 1st or 6th arrondissement. From the Vieux-Port it is a short walk to Au Falafel. There is no year-round kosher hotel kitchen. Check the certificate on the wall — places open and close.

Marseille does not have one obvious Jewish quarter. Beth Chabad Centre Ville (Chabad house listed on the site) is the anchor - book a hotel within walking distance of it rather than picking a random part of Marseille.
