About this place

The High Synagogue, completed in 1563 in late Renaissance style; its prayer hall is on the second floor, hence the name. The interior was destroyed in 1939 and rebuilt, and since 1966 it houses the Kraków branch of the Jewish Social and Cultural Society of Poland. It is not an active synagogue.
